Hey there, I got a Escort 98 (R) with a 1.8 16v Zetec engine (dont know if its the 105 or 115 version). My dad reckons all zetecs have a cambelt 'failsafe' so if it snaps it doesnt munch the engine, but he said check it out to see if its true.
Anyone?
Cheers

No idea, but being a Zetec, check your engine weekly
100,000 mile for the cambelt on my girlfriends 1.4 16v Zetec engine, so will probably be the same.

Being a zetec i doubt it will be cambelt safe, there much like other manufacturers 16v engines, running quite high compression(low valve to piston clearence)

If you can, check the belt's condition before making a decision because usually you change parts such as this either at the set milage or after a number of years (which ever comes first). Well that's what I've always done. Best be safe than sorry!
If it looks in fine codition leave it till you think it needs changing but if it looks a bit worn/damaged, change it
