As above , a poll on which brand wax/polish you buy which are available off the shelf in most local motor factors

I would use Autoglym Super Resin Polish followed by Megs Gold Class Wax.

waxes and polishes arnt comparable they do completly different jobs ane are for completly different situations

also differing brands and products produce different results, and work better/worse on different paint types.

also you cant just say 'auto glym' as an option

I used to use turtle wax, but have since started using autoglym super resin polish as I feel it to be a bit better.

well no not really.

i rate gold class to produce a nice shine, but little depth on a dark colour car and onlt after a full glase and seal.

i wouldnt use cleaner wax other than for removing oxidation or contaminents

i would use turtle was on a lighter colourd car silver for example, but would put it over a glaze or sealent as i find it too chalky.

and auto glyms make loads of differnt types of product.

Autoglym Ultra Deep

Used it on my car lastnight, car is very shiney and easy to use!

Ultimately best results is when washing, claybar, polishing & then waxing.

Greg, most people dont think so in depth about what they are buying like you.

the majority of people go instore and buy a wax or polish, im simply asking them what they buy. Not what they buy it for

as said in my other tyre dressing thread.

i had some Megs gold class and next gen wax bought for me at x-mas. after using it i sent it back, didnt rate it much at all

Turtle Wax do not produce a pure wax, only all in one products, so by putting it on top of other products, all you are doing is removing the previous layer.

I have always enjoyed keeping my cars clean, and, as with anything else, over time you start to learn about what your doing and the products your using to do it. But I'm certainly not a 'Detailer', thats just a typical ott yank phrase.
