Hi,

I'm looking at buying a new car at the weekend and need to drive it about 70 miles home (if i buy it)

All the sites I've looked on only allow one day insure for 21+ year olds.

Is it law that companies can not offer this to 20 year olds? Or is there companies out there that will do it? I can't seem to find any..

Any recommendations would be great.

Phoned them up but apparently they've never heard of it despite it being on the website!

Any one else got any ideas?

sorry to ask but why dont you buy the whole insurance straight away?

Norwich Union do day sure (or something like that) but i have a feeling you may need to be 21 to qualify for it

Phone your insurance co, get a quote for the car and ask how long you have to cancel the policy before you lose your deposit, admin fees for canceling etc etc

If you have longer than 24hrs get insured, drive home, cancel policy, lose nothing or very little.

Thanks for your help!

I don't want to buy the insurance for the year as the car I’m looking at is a 3litre bmw, so at 20 the insurance is going to be hefty (to say the least). I will therefore need to hunt around abit. Also its far from guaranteed that I'm going to purchase the car that’s why one day insure would be handy as very little to loose. I think you may be on to something johnhara1. I will have another phone around in the morning.

Any other recommendations would be great!

Get a mate thats 21 to get insurance for the day, and you pay for it?
