Ive been offered a placement as an apprentice mechanic, provided i can funding, and then Ill get taken on, on a trial basis.

What sort of pay is it for an apprent? Im guessing its pretty shite, as my brother is a fully qualified grease monkey now, and his pay is nothing special.

Also, where to get funding in Scotland? Looking at the modern apprenticeship website, they seem to be the people to go to, but im unsure.

I was looking to do an electrical apprenticehip, but its so hard to get one up here, might as well do the mechanic apprent. Would enjoy it too, and Im mates with the people that work there, one of them has a 400bhp scooby, hes always working on it there, so should be fun

I done my 3 years,1 year in college 2 years as an apprentice and was the worst thing i did..i should of done something a lot better in the first place...cars are always changing so what you learn there in a few years wouldnt get you far, i found that out

Stick with electrics if you can lots more money

Still only 16, so getting to places, being able to afford courses etc would be quite hard for me.

Ill start this apprenticeship, if i find a good electrical one pop up next year, I might well do it.

If you want to go offshore do Mechancial/Electrical Engineering

Even if you cant get an apprenticeship for the above just now, go to college and do a HNC and start applying.

Companies will see your willing to learn (and SAAS pay for your tuition fees)
