a4. watch out for the 1.8t.. common problem with sludging oil blocking the pick up pipe. especially on variable servicing. just had to replace turbo on mine because of it. otherwise the 1.9tdi is a good engine... mines just been chipped to 210bhp and its super on the motorway. i'll still get 33mpg at 80-90mph

because of your budget I would go for audi

If you had a little more then it would the BMW

Don't drive the BMW because it will feel so muach better than the audi in terms of drvivng experience

the audi and bmw seem pretty similar in age and value, but think im going to extend my budget and get a bmw ci
