some absolute penis has hit the tailgate of my car, completely crushing it inward, and damaging the paint on the rear bumper.
- i only park in work, where its in the compound..
or outside my house.
theres no name/ number left....so whoever didnt obviously wants to be unknown..
the paint left on my car is a grey/ whitish colour (difficult to tell in the rain)
and the damage is high up (almost at the rear window)
this tells me it was most likely a van, and it occured outside my house...
do i:
a. phone my insurance and get them to sort it (losing no claims)
b. bang on everyone in my streets door till i find the fu(ker which did it?
c. other?
please discuss

unless there was any witnesses then there is no point trying to find out who it was as they are more than likely not going to own up. Is it worth losing your no claims? Best option imo is to get a new tailgate, preferably the same colour to match your car and perhaps get the rear repainted at your own expense.
but yes its a cunt when people do this

I wouldnt get insurance involved just yet and even if you did find black paint and damage on another car or van there is no proof it hit your car so i think you'd be wasting your time with knocking down doors.
Buy a cheap tailgate and get a quote for respraying that and repairing the bumper

Bu then again, If you go to his door and say theres damage to both your beichles and you suspect he hit your car, He could turn around and claim that there was no damage to his truck when he came home and blame you or hitting him.
If you get what i mean?

sod it, looks like a new tailgate and time for a semi smoothed boot.
