my mates breaking an astra 2.0 sport with above engine, i may be buying it but want to knwo a few things about it whats the standard bhp of one and if it smokes on start up blue/white more whoite though and when you "floor" it wj#hat would could be the causes other than that it runs fine no nocks ticks etc

136 bhp as standard, differs from the C20XE engine in that the head design is different the ECU settings are different and a different cam profile is used, there is also the eco tec system

the white smoke could be signs of head gasket faliure although if the car has been stood for a while it could just be condensation,

the X20XEV is a decent engine and is a good alternative to the XE

they are known to use a little oil these engines in fact anything up to 1 litre to every 1000 miles they are alot better after a re map though my mates one was nice after a few mods

depending on mileage when you floor it smoke could actually just be coke/carbon being bellowed out and on start up it being condensation.

ye seems fine once warmed up but when "booted" still pumps put the smoke, will give it another go, it has a straight through stainless and a pipes filter, unsure if this makes any difference to the car at all....

hmmm maybe if its proper smoke there is something a bit dodgy.

I was thinking just a little puff or something when changing gear.
