£700 won't get you much

The one I had sold for £620 but didn't even run, although the car was solid and an engine is quite cheap, so he might get lucky.

prices are coming down a bit but he wont get anything solid for that kind of price.

try adtrader for best bet, ebay is silly money and forums rarely sell anything for cheapness.

2.0 zetec on carbs or tb's. far smaller engine than an xe, lots lighter and better in the front of a mini.

or maybe the good old x16xe conversion? done lots in the past, lots of info available on how to do it and huge tuning potential.

there is actually a 1.6 v-tec mini round near my mate reynard. I'll try get a pic of it if its ever out of the garage again. Seeing as its sunny there's good bets.

Is absolutely mental, remember seeing it take on many turbo'd big jap cars. Is cammed with new pistons and remappable ecu apparently.

Looks cool too. Sky blue with gloss black arches

My Brother paid £700 for his 1980 Mini Sprite with 1275cc engine back in 1997.

Theres companies out there that do rebuilt race spec 1400cc engines for around £1500.

Also a good condition Mini Cooper will cost you around £4-6000. (Classifieds in Mini magazines show this)
