Im really interested in rebuilding a c20xe...
So wondering what is need to make it more realible as last time my xe never worked....So wanna make sure its done right...

All the major work il get a pro to do (chris astley) and il get a hayne manual for the engine aswell..

I really wanna do this...ive got a decent size shed and my mates got a engine crane...But it has seen better days..

What would be an ideal start to make it realible ..

Headgasket
Timing belt and tensioners
All sensors,
Un cut loom...

Anything else as il be puttin it all on microsoft word and il be takin my time..

thanks

taken from migweb just do a search mate

1) get head checked for height, has it been skimmed too much?
2) is it a KS head? If so, de-porous it, v-tuning.co.uk do it for £100-£150.
3) check the crank jouners are to spec.
4) check the bores in the block are to spec
5) check piston jounerals are to spec and blanced ok, no fractures.
6) open up oil pump, inspect the 2 cogs inside, no wear or lipping on the teeth should be present, should be ok to use.
7) clean out the hydraulic tappets.

Once all the basic checks are done, then I would buy the following

top end

1) top end gasket kit (head gasket, copper wshers, oil seals)
2) new throttle body gaskets
3) new head bolts
4) new exhasut studs if need be
5) clean the ISCV and breather pipes
6) new oil valve stem seals
7) new water pump
8) new pulley wheels
9) new cam belt
10) new alt belt
11) new cam spigot wheel bolts

bottom end

1) bottom end gasket kit (sump, oil pump, water pump, oil pick up etc)
2) new crank bearing shells
3) new piston big end bearing shells
4) new E20 crank bult
5) new oil pump pressure relife valve spring
6) new end cap bolts
7) new piston rings
8) new Oxygen sensor
9) new flywheel bolts

as cunningham said, get everything checked for wear and all gaskets, seals, bearings changed.

also change to tb's. there more expencive to buy and abit more juicy on fuel but there isnt asmuch of a wiring loom to go wrong as trhe std xe version

I meant to say, mine was really unreliable, breaking every other day. In the end I took it off the road as I was about to smash it up lol

Decided to get shut off the XE that was in it, bought myself I nice running, standard XE and put that in the week after PVS, not had any problems as yet and done about 2500 miles on it.

Think it comes down to being lucky and finding a good motor

if you need any uprated bits for the c20xe such as guides, big valves, bearings etc... give me a try. we do them all a lot cheaper than anywhere else I have found, ask muppetsport.
