I can see how its similar doing Corsa's up to be GSi reps but its not in the same league really. A Cossie is an icon, a Corsa GSi isn't which is why its generally more acceptable

I'd never buy a replica of any car EXCEPT...the Ford GT40, simply because the replica's have basically the same engine, look the same, go the same etc. Anything else though and i wouldn't bother.
