right well story goes like this.

fully rebuilt top end of 1.4 8v mpi engine and had it skimed 8 thow 'head gasket had gone'

started runnging it and it ran superb.

then rear main seal started to leak so gearbox came off and replaced it along with clutch while i was in there.

then month later it was due it 1st oil change so thought i would engine flush it aswel so did that.

engine oil was very very clean so i was happy the oil was staying clean inside the engine.

then got home from work and me mum poited out an oil leak on her expensive driveway 'wasnt impressed' anyway oil leak preogressivly got worse over the next couple of days whilt toping it up with oil'

finnaly got back to work and got it on me ramp and guess what'

its the rear main oil seal again that is leaking.

1st thuoghts were i wonder if the flush has cleaned the carbon off the rings stoping them from sealing and the rings are gone and pushing the pressure into the bottom end and pushing it out of the seal so compresstion test was done

all 4 cylinders were 180-200 'going off mercs which is what i work on' that would be high as mercs are usualy 150 which isnt a bad reading on an old bus' but then i have to bear in mind i have fully rebuilt the head along with re grinding the valves new cam 8 thow skim etc.

so 1st thing i wanted to know is what would you expect off an compresstion test with a head on it with 8 thow off it. is 180-200 high for that?

2nd thought is i wonder if the rear main seal has worn a slight groove in the crank 'like drive shaft seals do on drive shafts had this problem also but not a problem as you can slightly alter were you put them' but with the rear main seal it is in and thats it.

also oil breather pipe was checked and isnt blocked.

any ideas suggestions are welcome.
