Lots of people put 2.0- 16v in them and run them on carbs.
These cars do a lot of short circuit oval racing (think demolition derbys, without the demolition). Also used a lot in grass track racing.
Theres quite a few around.
You can only think its a sh1tter if you actually think that goes on the road and don't understand what it actually is.

imo its the ludicrously wide arches and the vinyl that make people think that
but if it was a track/rally slag, with proper windows, wheels that fill the arch's better, i bet alot of people wouldn't say its shit

Used to work on these upto a couple of weeks ago when i changed jobs, my old boss is currently world stock rod champion. Stock rods go upto 1400cc, any top end mods allowed, most are running a lairy cam and carbs. No bottom end mods allowed. Ud be surprised the amount of money that gets spent on them.

Exactly what i thought 
Everything is there for a reason, protection and to stiffen the car up. Theres basically to flexing in a stock car, if you hit a wall your going to feel it.
