I remember that car it was converted around 1997
A lad from northallerton/ thirsk had it
he used to drive to malton most nights
think the conversion cost around 8k iirc

well it was over 10 years ago!
this was a money no problem kind of conversion
could be wrong at 8k but it was something crazy like that
and I was still only 18! driving a 1.2 nova

Nope, don't know anything about this one. Never saw it and never saw any photos of it.
tbh, as for it being the "1st one" its hard to say. Many will claim they had the first, but i bet some back street garage done it first. Or Courtenay Sport.
Ben G, you really don't like me do you, every so often i see your little snidy comments. Still, essex boyzzzzz

ah shame you dont regonise it well i might still get it for a track car it does seem extemly mint not one bit of rust anywhere but depends how it was driven from new has the conversions changed at all since early days is there better ways of fitting the engine now as i say im new to valver corsas and dont want to end up with a load of hassle

They are pretty simply tbh. Normal redtop issues with age.
Keep your eye out on the corsa shell for rot.
Make sure it goes into gear well and that the engine doesn't sound like a bag of nails.
Its a pretty bombproof conversion as theres so little weight to pull. With a set of carbs (if setup), that'll be seeing at least 170/180bhp and it'll be a good track toy. Needs stripping though.

it was converted by a reputable place if I remeber correctly
def not courtenay
and tbh it was one of the very very first as you can imagine in 1997 it was quite mind blowing seeing a corsa with a xe lump on carbs then!
think the shafts are the tappered down versions from martin tinkler who supplied courtenay etc
it was a really nice motor in the day but looks old now with it being a sri spec!
