coling, I was in pretty much the exact same situation a few month ago, and I took professional advice on the best way forward.
Due to how long you have been there and the fact you have no contract you obviously don't have a notice period, however by law you must give "reasonable notice" to your employer - in most cases 1 week.
technically if you don't they could take you to court for money lost - this could be your charge out rate if you have one, or more likely make things difficult for you - P45 etc, you have no contract - but neither do they.
My advice - what I did - is to talk to your employer, be nice thank them for the opportunity etc, and leave after one week on good terms, I got paid on time, with my P45 arriving straight after - what's a week?
If they don't accept this take Adams advice.
