realistically for 4k....

A crap tired old NA supra MKIV - slow, thirsty but a good cruiseer/motorway mile muncher. Smooth as cream 3.0 straight6.

Skyline - at best an old gen1 R33 GTSt - not that exiting, and a bit limp looking. Other option would be a a R32 GTSt. same story as above, but worse

Impreza - old/poss thrashed WRX or old UK model. Lots of tired old dogs out there now. You really want about 8k budget to get a decent one.

I was going to say, all the UK ones are Twin Turbos, so they'll be better than the vast majority of jap ones, as they usually import the cheapskate straight 6. And the insurance will be cheaper, as its a UK car. Even if you go for a Jap twin turbo, the insurance won't be much more, as they're just looking at the fact that its an imported Supra.

I had a saff cossie and it never let me down. The only thing that ever went wrong with it was hand brake stuck on easy fix with wd40. Also sold it for more than i paid for it which was a bonus!

Get a quote for the 200SX, and get over to SXOC. £4k will get you a S14a touring manual 1998-2000 plate with average miles.

Sold but: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/212034.htm
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/210337.htm

The insurance would be similar to the N/ A Supra. You can tune the SR20 lump very easily if you want to. ie Breathing mods, Walbro, cooler plugs & 1bar boost = ~260bhp. Check the S14 tech - library of power figures.

When I owned one at that power I regularly saw 30+mpg on the commute.

Otherwise RX7 FD3 but I PMSL @ the fuel bill.
