'a fifth of children aged 11 to 15 drinking at least once a week'
I was probably still playin with my barbies at 11 years old, never mind sitting up at the park with a bottle of white lightening! oh how times have changed!

Sod all these age restrictions. Anyone causing trouble should be locked in town stocks and have rotten veg thrown at them.

The ones that cause trouble should get locked up, simple. Not a shitty asbo or some other pointless name, lock them up till they learn.
I've been going out drinking since 16, never caused anyone any trouble. But it won't affect me anyway as i'm 21.

They need to be humiliated. Lock em up in public, let everybody get to know who the scrotes are and they'll get hounded out sooner or later.

In a perfect world it sounds like a great idea.
After all, how many ££££ did we piss against the wall in a pub between 18-21 when we could have been saving for a gaff?
Unfortunately In the real world it doesn't work like that. Alcohol wil just go underground and late teenagers will find other ways to get a buzz.
My best guess is that the Gov will raise cigarettes to 18 (makes sense given the smoking ban) and will tax alcohol to the hilt until its out of reach of kids with limited money to spend

Am I reading that right - there are calls to raise the drinking age to 21 because of children aged 11-15 drinking at least once a week, some chav in a hat drinking Heineken aged 12 and some piss head 16 year old with a cider addiction.
None of whom are over 18 anyway. They're currently taking this piss out of their parents and society generally, I see no reason for that to continue if law abiding young people are unnecessarily punished in some lip service desperation reaction to a problem that isn't being address at source.
And if that doesn't work there's a few people suggesting its taxed more to make it more expensive. That'll be nice for me when I'm enjoying a beer at my computer desk paying for some naughty child to have their stomach pumped on my tax contributions.

I blame the parents.

tbh i live in a bad area and i see 22 year old kids/men still drinking on the streets i find it pathetic i think you should get 2 strikes then a hefty fine for underage drinking

Nanny starw again
It will make absolutely no difference whatsoever they will drink illegally for longer. This situation will only start to get better when people are made to realise that actions have consequences.
