To be honest, I think these days the gap has closed down a hell of a lot compared to what it used to be. You have to consider though that overheads due to wages and showrooms (land/rent) are gonna be loads higher over here .

No, what I'm saying is that when an online broker (who simply puts you in touch with a franchised dealer for the car) is offering a car for £2k less than another dealer, either they're taking a massive hit and loosing money, or the other dealer is making a hell of a lot more than the breadline earnings they're trying to make us believe they're getting from the sale .

Thing is though Argos sell with an RRP, you dont go in to haggle (well you could try but probably wont get anywhere unless your spending big time welk) car garages on the other hand open their ticket price to haggle, negotiation with p/x & extras etc - the two are not comparable!! Also Argos sell other companies products, not their own. So yes if you buy a ford from a European supplier you should be able to take it to a Ford UK garage for help/service/parts. I cound see the point if you took your ford to vaux (reg the argos/comet comment) but then that would just be silly. Clearly I dont know what im talking about though

Corb, although i've not sold cars, i worked with customers who think they are always right. You know how cocky I can be if i want. Don't take no shit. End of the day, your the only one that looses out, so if the customers an arse, feck em.... Make the money off another customer.

So, whats good in the Seat range these days that I could come down and take out for a thrashing for an hour

Most dealers are ignorent twats who would try to sell you their mother if given the chance. Most don't know their assholes form their elbows and talk the talk.

Difference is, Corb actually knows what he's talking about and won't feed you a load of BS.

If you have ever worked in retail you will know that that is bollocks. I got in trouble at my old job once when the customer said that to me and I corrected them said that they were incorrect. Very politely mind you, and this lady was a complete arse too, whe would come in moaning every day wanting to buy all the recuced food and expect it to be even cheaper than it was labelled

as such colin, but then with the cars that are imports you miss out on alot of things

for example with an import you only get 2 years warrenty, and not the normal 3

also, there is no goodwill on imports at all, for example colin if a car has done 69k miles (vag warrenty is 3 years/60k on uk cars) vag may still pay a percentage or even the whole amount of the repair if you have been loyal to the brand and bought and had you car serviced by the brand, ive seen this happen on cars that are 5-7 years old as well, saving customers litrally thousands of pounds in the process

Also your find alot of delears wont take in p/ex's on import cars as well
