Well like the title says above, im just enquiring as i went to a garage today to see if he could sort the problem out with my car(cheaply).
Tried another air flow meter and throttle body, still no change. So then i said "well, im going to go and try and buy certain things to put it back to standard, so i can get all the work done under warranty".

He said that i dont have to, also said that the only thing i had to do was take the air filter and exhaust off and that will be it. Leave alloys, lowering springs etc etc on and that will be fine.

So i queried it with another mechanic from a different place and he said he was talkin bollocks.

So which one is right, and should i put it back standard or not?????

Cheers all

Me to, but he thinks youde be able to get away with a few things. The only things left that could be wrong with the car is the CAT, or the ecu. So if i have a straight throught system and the CAT's fooooked they could blame it on that. But he said it would be fine. Was just asking what others thoughts were and if theyve ever sent there car in with mods on, under warranty.

I always thought standard. Because any other added part which didn't come out the factory could 'cause the fault'.

if its an engine fault, then only the engine bits need to be changed

Yeah they could just say the car isnt the car we made (completly), so therefore we cant be responsible, or some corporate bullshit like that.

The car is losing power through all gears, i will be going up through the revs and then it will be like somebody is tapping the break, complete flats spots that last a few seconds. It wont go over 4000 revs and its top speed is 65. Hardly any exhaust fumes is coming out the exhaust and the engine sounds as though is straining to move. So me thinks CAT is fooked. So to have that checked you think i should put everything back to satndard. Ooooh and theres a clip off the driveshaft missing, which i would like replaced. lol

Questioned this before when modding my car under warranty. If they can link a problem to a mod you've done, then it's not their problem.

i.e if you lower the car and a shock absorber goes, it'll be your fault because you've altered the way it works to do something it wasnt designed to do. They couldn't blame your wipers not working on it though.

From what you say though, if you've got an exhaust on, then that could have caused the problem, especially if it's a full system that's been put on in a manor that's putting excess force on the front manifold, causing it to fail.
