Ive been lookin at 2.0 16v cars but most quotes r well over £2500. And havent got any NCB. But if i was 2 put in that i had 2 years no claims or maybe 3 how would they no that i havent? Just wonderin Cheers

You have to proove it. A letter from your last insurer is OK.

they normally ask your your renewal letter stating how much NCB you have.
P.S. its insurance fraud if you do what your going 2 do

Great phrase Tim. 
Yes, they will ask you to prove it. I nearly ended getting a bill for another few hundred quid after my old insurer was late supplying it.

When I changed companies, Norwich Union didnt even ask for proof... just did it.

ive never been asked for any type of evidence. but i did tell them who insured me previously, maybe they phone up the old companies?

I dont know how old your are but my friend in SE london pays £800 on his cav 2.0 16v he is 21 now but was 20 when he started the policy, no ncbs and one year licence held. 
Was with www.ecarinsurance.co.uk but the prices seems to dip and rise randomly on all the sites I have been on.
Even if i try and do a quote with my current company its £900 but i pay £530 
But as people say alot of places will ask and alot of online insurance companys want the policy number for the ncbs's

Tom, whilst the Fraud Act is now in, and we do use it to prosecute several ofences, I have not seen and dodgy insurance jobs prosecuted using it yet 
Of course I can only speak with certainty for South Yorkshire
