I personally think its cowardly. If you've got a problem with someone in the work place you should sort it out yourself. Everytime i've had an arguement with someone here, i sort it out. i think its something i do without realizing it. I'd never go to the managment and complain about this or that employee. Honestly, never done it. Yet that f**king A***hole behind me thinks differently and without warning i'm being put under fire by my boss.
That, amounst other things i shall be giving in my notice within the next couple of weeks. This place is bullsh*t.
i suppose you could look at it like this forum. If you have an issue with another member, to you privatly u2u them and sort it out. Or do you jump right onto u2u'ing Ian/Tim?
So, do you go to managment to sort out your problems? or sort it out yourself.

depends how serious the argument/complaint was, if you popped out with a threat or something I wouldnt waste my time dealing with you, merely pass it onto the moderators. If it was something more minor, I would sort it out myself.

most people from the place i work would sort their problems themselves including me but i know of one or two people who have gone straight to management in the past. I wouldnt say it was cowardly, its just that some people dont like confrontation. i would be annoyed if someone dropped me in it with the boss without coming to me first though.

sort it out with the person, i always call them into the board room and confront them face to face, gets them everytime and they never give it attitude when others aren't around to show off to.

When i had problems i spoke to my boss who called the girl upstairs and spoke to her
I had done nothing wrong, apart from being off sick and she took it upon herself to suddenly become my manager and start bossing me around
I think it was the wrong course of action to take, as we hardly speak now and its just us 2 that run the transport office
NVM thou, its only work!

When i worked in a school one of the teachers was proper up her own arse. Because i was a student i was nothing, and the support staff were nothing too.
Two of the support staff complained to the boss on more than one occasion who had a word. The teacher changed her attitude but still had the odd sly dig. Personally i wasn't bothered, i just wanted to get through the 12 months with a good reference for uni which i got. No point in me kicking off and walking out. I did that later on when i had what i needed from that place
A couple of teachers had it in for me there. They thought just because i was a student i needed the money which i really wasn't arsed about. Used to get sly remarks about what i'd been up to at the weekend, new clothes and because i bought a new car. They couldn’t understand why my parents were giving me money whilst i was at uni.

IF people dont like confrontation then that is cowardly imo, get a spine and deal with it.
I think a lot of the time its due to processes in place, the company/management want you to come to them with any issues rather to confronting the employee yourself.
I think thats bull though and to me reflects this chicken shit oh so british and reserved society. I would rather speak to the person direct.

I agree with you Mark, but if the person is shouting/swearing at you then go and see your manager
... i had to walk out of our office for fear of getting into a fight so i went and vented for an hour to my manager about everything she did to me (including logging into VNC viewer whilst i was working to see what i was doing... she thought i didnt know that she was doing it )

Its not for me/you to sort it out at work, its for the person above me/you to observe whats going on and stop it before/while its happening.
i would always seek out management to put a stop to something as they, really, are the only ones who can do anything about it.
if you start coming out with the 'hit them' or 'give shit back to them' that either lands you in an illegal wrong place or makes you as bad as them in the first place.

Unfortunately management don't always give a shit about their employees, so complaining to them is in some cases futile.
