TBH I am one of them.

Well kind of, I take pride in my work, a lot of people I work with are all too happy to sit around and let others carry the workload, I don't mind doing the work I do so I just get on with things.
A while ago the company asked for someone to go in a hour early to arrange all the labour for our section (biggest on the port - around 100 people per shift), the manager at the time came straight to me as he thought I would be best for the job, I turned it down as I was going through my marriage break-up at the time and couldn't afford the time or energy it needed to do the job, since then I do it on a semi-permananet basis sharing it with someone else but I think I'll be doing it full time before too much longer as the other person wants to leave the job.
I like doing it, I enjoy being more of the organ grinder than one of the monkeys, it challenges me, it puts me under pressure which I thrive on, solving problems as they crop up and acting on my instincts.
I honestly feel that I could do my managers job as I've pulled him out of the shit so many times since I've been helping him out it's untrue and I don't think my efforts have gone unnoticed.

So I enjoy doing this extra part of my job (and yes I get paid extra for it) and it seems the company are grateful for me doing it, my workmates all say that out of the two that do the job I'm the better one as I treat them with more respect and interact more with them and am generally the more complete package.

Does this mean I have my tongue up the companys arse? I guess it does in a way, but I enjoy it so I personally couldn't GAF what people outside of my friends/workmates think!

That doesnt sound too bad if your getting paid for it. Its the nobs that scurry about the boss's feet asking if he wants a cuppa, wash his car, wank him off etc that people mean here............imo

Thing with my old job was because some of the older more established workers done whatever asked & were used to doing so it probably never seemed out of sorts to them but then someone else joins & is expected to do the same.

Im talking about putting up with shit like:

Opening up early, working late & getting nothig extra or even any thanks for it.
Often getting tossed the MD's keys & told go fill up my car.
Pick bosses son up from school, run them places.
Change wheels round on a van we were selling - in all my good clobber - got filthy & scrapped my good shoes just because the millionaire fannybag that owned the company wouldnt see a van go to the market with any tread left on the tyres!!
Pick up company owner from the airport at 6am.
Run & pick stuff up from one of their many houses.

Now to some this sounds a skive, a go in a posh car now & again, well it is however when your being paid to do a job & that type of shit starts to interfear with your ability to do your job you need to say enough is enough. Some of those cunts were running around like collie dogs!! FUUUUCK OFF THANKS!!!!!

I used to be one but things changed. Now everyone thinks I'm lazy and incompetent even though I'm technically not.
