I'm pretty sure you can start with a c20xe and make the oil returns etc so it effectively becomes a LET block.

exactly the same in every way apart from the oil return which needs taping into the front of the block. theres a blank there to drill and tap which you can locate by looking at a let one. also you need to remove the allan key bung from the rear oil gallery near the pump for the turbo oil feed. obviously pistons are different but rods and crank are the same. also its rumored that the very early xe blocks are of a slightly better casting to the later ones making them ideal for high boost applications similar to that of early rb26skyline engines from the very early r32's

the turbo feed bung is a 7mm allan key aswell which can sometimes be awkward to find especially if you dont have time to arse about!

the let block is different actually, it had ectra webbing such like the x20xev block to make it quiter.
my engine was a 1989 xe originally. cost about 10 quid at a machine shop to have the return drilled in to make it turbo flavour.

free power, less boost

but you can make more power from a lower compression engine and more boost pressure than a higher compression engine with less as it will reach its upper limit before det
