Change the inlet manifold and you'll see off most vtr's. Not vts's though. I think vtr is 90 bhp standard which is identical to 1.4 sport. Inlet should free up almost 20 bhp so you should see them off quite easily. Couple that to a 4 branch, cams etc. etc. and they be long gone. Don't be surprised if they keep up with ya at low speeds as their gearing is slightly better than a f13 box and 8v's always rev quite quickly. You'll still blow them away.

Why not change to a x16xe with inlet then you can play with vts's as well. lol.

c16se is an 8v engine i believe not too sure so responce will be a little less then if it was a a xe is 16vi think.

The 1.4 sport is 89-90bhp std maybe just save weight and strip out the rear seats and use the power thats there more affectly
4-2-1 manifold decat system and back box, proper cold air feed from the outside induction kit as they say a kentcam or something like it.
Geting rid of the std system will free up some power in mid range.

Power is unlimited if you have unlimited money
if you dont have alot then maybe do the save weight option and it depends where you want to beat the vtr, around a track on in a straight line

Main thing is yours is a decent car with good build quality and foot pedels which aint all rite next to each other.Cant stand french build quality but thats another topic

good luck with it

C16se is a 100hp 8v, and a LOT more reponsive than a corsa 16v engine.
But the 16v is more tuneable.

hermmmmm illshut my mouth

Would have thought the 1600 8v and the 1600 16v the 16v would be more responcive as the valves are smaller and lighter.

I like the 8vs better i have a sri 8v and its a wonderful baby simple tyo work on and never misses a beat

A small block 16v with the standard inlet setup has the worst throttle response i have ever experienced. I really miss the response of my old twin webers
With a "inlet box" i'd guess the response would be much improved.

8v also has better low down pull.
