on a c20xe when you change the main bearings are you suppose to change the bolts or can you reuse them

strictly you should change them (according to haynes manual) but I know of lots of well respected engine builders that dont. make sure the threads are clean and dry and use loctite 243 on them.

I built my x16xe 2 years ago and didnt change them, it revved to 8000+ rpm happily for 2 years, I have just built it again and not fitted new ones. Torque them up and just put an extra 10 degrees on them, they arent under any paticular loads anyway.

sweet dave cheers. how much do you think im looking at for a new piston ring? cant believe i fucked it.
