Do they all come with the plastic cover like this one? Is this like an older version?

nope they don't. Theres a different style cover to that and some have none at all. iirc

The car seems like a good un, if u want a mechanics opinions. But it should have an alternator belt change at 36k, so ask if he had it done at 31k.

normal 172's have an engine cover, 172 cups do not
