150 quid really is a cheap job.

obviously u have no idea about bodywork and the time it takes to do even a small job like this.

strip
metal work (welding a plate in slowly to avoid panel distortion as much as possible)
filler work (very important)
prep work
primer (flash off times etc)
prep again
paint and lacquer (flash off times)
build tailgate back up
flat and polish

paint/materials/time

electricity, cost of buying equipment and running them all has to be taken into account

I did mine myself, lots and lots of hours of work - then paid £100 for the final few skims of filler/paint

to do the full boot ur into a lot more metal and filler work altho the prep time and paint time etc is more or less the same

for a full boot ud be into around 300 - 500 depending on where you go

You want the be paying a higher pirce too because that usually means you will have a good job done. Next time you are at a car show take a look at all the semo-smooth boots which have a wonky radius where the boot lock used to finish because the person doing toe work did it with thier eyes closed or something.

for 500 quid ur fully smoothed tailgate would be done in a proper oven in an insurance approved bodyshop with a proper quarantee over the work using the best paint and materials.

alot of filler work in a fully smooth boot, thats wot takes the time
