lol,the tappets need doing and iu think the clutch but she still runs well

1.4 Sport?

Good engines they are.

My first one was ragged to death all the time, being you and stupid, its at 118k now and still goes fine.

seems good engine. how muchand how hard are they to changre clutch and to do tappets

are these a better engine than the 1.6? and what would be better to get 8v or 16v i no 16v are quicker but im looking at a 1.4 or 1.6 sport but need reliability

No, they're both as good as each other.

Get an 8v for reliability, they're pretty indescructible and the 1.4 8v is as good as the 1.4 16v (I've had both, and a 1.6)

clutch is fairly easy if you have an F13 gearbox (my 1.4 16V SRi does), just take the cover off the bellhousing and the clutch can be changed without removing the engine or gearbox. tappets arent too bad just make sure you set yourself plenty of time aside to carry out the repairs
