right, i'm going back to my old place tonight for muchos beer, pizza and xbox360 (spunked all my money on going out last night )..

Due to the fact that neither myself or my ex has lived there for quite some time she cancelled the phone contract (selfish i know )

now we all know online xbox360 isn't possible without a phone line don't we. What are the chances of me ringing up BT and grovelling to them to turn it back on, even if it's just for a day. I don't think they'll do it personally.... just wondered if anyone else had been in the same situation that's all.

I dont think they will either lol

Worth a shot though.

Tell a little lie that you need a phone line for one night for emergency's! make it sound tragic though lol

alot of routers bought seperatly have a default password. have a good guess what it could be

People are thick when it comes down to making sure they are secure. my brother was using next door's internet for nearly a year in his house through wireless and he took the piss with it lol.

Now they dont live there and it means he has had to go with an ISP of his own

routers come with an 8 digit key on the bottom, or you can use your own for increased security...

even so, it's still a bunch of numbers and could be anything. I'm not sitting at my laptop punching in numbers the whole night

I need a cracking utility of some sort.

im not its true. search the net. im at work so 90% of stuff that involves stuff like that is banned.

if they are using WPA or greater its a lot more secure though.

search google for "cracking WEP" i'm sure something will come up :-(

My area is full of posh badgers who don't understand WEP, i have 3 networks i can join to wireless if my net ever goes down

Unless the line has actually been ceased they should be able to connect it within a couple of hours.
Cancelling it within a day though is another matter.
Give them a phone and you'll find out either way.

i have a feeling if i ask them to get it back up they'll ask for the ex's payment details (and probably her permission as the account holder), so that's a no-go area really.

Google is up...
