So it's not as bad as people would imagine. As long as you don't rag it everywhere.

Overall should i not choose a the corsa sri over the clio 172 cause it has less mpg when it not miles off?

I don't really understand what your after, economy or performance, in terms of performance the Clio and Corsa are miles apart. You need to decide if you want a fast car which may drink a fair bit of juice, or a reasonably nippy car which will return pretty good mpg.

doesnt beat them, 0-60, but rolling i.e 60-100 i have pulled on a couple.

very similar tbh. mines slightly heavier but has around 185bhp, more once its re-mapped

Got:

Full s/s exhaust
Custom made De-cat & downpipe
Enclosed Ind kit
New inlet manifold - ported/flowed etc

Also lost a fair few KG's in form of spare wheel, rear soundproofing, exhaust, steel airbox etc.

I just think you are looking at two totally different classes of car with the 172 and SRi.

ye deep down i really really want 172. I am just worried i may struglle with the petrol intake. Also the insurance is 1100 for clio an probs something like 600 for the sri.

only car i can think of that is quick but NOT old and has low mileage is the sri. I found this sri with 22k on clock 17" kahn wheels.

why not look at the 306 rallye? just as fun as 172, cheaper to buy now therefore you will have more cash left over.

basically if you want a quick drivers car, fun, etc buy a 172 etc

if you want a nippy, fairly economical car then the corsa

Something to consider is that the corsa has a fairly close ratio gear box for a 1.8, as it suses the same /box as the 1.4, which I have - basically if you drive along eveywhere at 40mph it's fine, but anything after that, I always feel I need another gear, and the engine is buzzing along at about 3k rpm at 60 mph - not good for consumption at all. I've had my corsa for 3 and a half years now, done 47,000 miles in it and never seen more than 40mpg, even on long motorway runs, or long A road runs at a constant 60mph . The 1.8 will be worse.
