got an N95 this afternoon on O2 and have a couple of questions

When using the preloaded maps am i paying for GPS use or Not?

Whats the barcode scanner for?

Where can i find good sites for things to download, heard you can get things like N64 emulators etc.

Cheers

GPS is free.

The barcode scanner is for barcodes like this...

If you look on the back of your headphone controls there's a barcode on there

GPRS you pay for.
GPS you don't.

I believe it'll connect through the GPRS to get the directions. You'd be best using it when a WiFi connection is available.

You have to pay for the voice turn by turn directions, but the GPS itself is free. The map data needs to be loaded and if you use GPRS you have to pay for the data transfer (unless you have free data allowance, obviously) but as brett said, use the wifi if possible and then its free. I did this round my mums, followed the route from her's to my place at uni with the cursor when i was connected to her wifi and it all loaded in the memory. Obviously I knew the way anyway but it was fun to play with

so to actually generate the map instructions i.e enter a to and from address is chargeable?

if i did pay for the nokia subscribtion, and have the woman speaking would i still be charge for a GPRS connection as well?

Ive not tried out the route planner yet, but I think tis free, just the voiced part of its not, but im not 100% sure on that. You would still need the GRPS connection to get the map data onto the phone, so yes, you would still be charged for that unless you get the data onto the phone without having to pay for the data charge, ie wifi

Look at my first post in this thread.

They're being featured on post a lot these days. For instance, my tv license had one on the front when it arrived the other day. Couldn't be assed finding out what it said tho.
