My place (roughly)
Sofas - £1300
Kitchen cooker, fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave - £800
Bedroom furniture (2 beds, drawers, built in wardrobes, desk) - £600
Dining room/living room furniture - £400
TV/DVD/stand - £250
TBH your budget should be what you can afford, do it on the cheap via ikea and the free ads and you could get most things second hand
Or do it from john lewis/brand new and spend a fortune.....

Thats £3350 on mine, with a £50 bed in the guest room from ikea (cheapest double... ever  )
My sofas i pay off monthly for another year at no interest so you could always get them on the buy now pay later deal at DFS
Im not gunna lecture, but if i had to give one piece of advice it would be to not buy second hand/cheap stuff. Wait, save, and get the nice stuff!

Its not way to cheap if she did it on a budget.
Could come out and say yours is cheap as bought a £10k+ designer sofa!!

why, i struggle to see how you could buy any of the above for that price unless it was second hand. it wasn't a case of mine more expensive than yours I just don't see how those prices are realistic for most people starting a freah in a house

You do not see my point - they are not realistic prices. Anyway someones asked for adviced and my answer is going off what I have experienced

I paid £1500 for bed & bedroom furniture, £200 for dining table & chairs from homebase & Got my sofas for £150 off someone from work that had them a year & decided they wanted a change.

As cosmo says, can spend any amount. I'm heavily into my furniture, mainly mid 20th century designer stuff from Italy/Denmark. I've spent £1000s on a single chair but can also buy something that looks great for 100s, all down to personal choice. I would prefer to spend my money on something which is an investment while still looking good. Can't see why people go buying a brand new suite every couple of years for X amount of money when you can't give it away when you want to sell it.

Where do you get bed covers from? Was looking at getting a Superking size but cant find covers, got a small double at the moment and have to use a non fitted sheet which are rubbish
