I got home from work today and wondered why my mum had parked half on the drive and half over the pavement
Upon further inseption the car was wedged against a lampost
I went in to ask what the hell was going off and she didnt know. Turns out she had left the hand brake off and the car decided to make a break for freedom
Anyway heres some pics of the damage:

tbf she did well
Im just so glad i was late home from work otherwise my car would have been there before the post. GSI could have had a nice passat shaped hole in the side
How much do you rekon it will cost to rectify? Also she has protected no claims will anything be effected if she goes through insurance other then having to pay the excess?

Another case of 'leave the car in gear after a run'
Did she cook the brakes on the way back from Tescos?

Heres the scenario in paint
Would have been better if she had straighten the steering but she left them on basically full lock and it managed to go almost completly off the drive backwards. Would have caused less damage i feel if it had gone straight into the post on the rear bumper

With all due respect mate..
Your mum shouldnt really be driving if she cant be left to secure a 1-2 tonne peice of metal, which has a handy little pull lever especialy for that.
That could have really ruined someones day

Everyone makes silly mistakes like this now and again! She may have had her mind on something else. Not a good excuse but can happen.

Parking brakes cool and contract after being heated up...hence the handbrake stops working.

I wouldnt call letting a baby wonder into the road a silly mistake.
I wouldnt call leaving a 2 tonne car to wonder onto a pavement / road a silly mistake, its plain stupidity which could result in the same kind of result from each senario
