Hi Guys,
Just wanted to know where abouts the peak power is on a standard 1.6 (sport)
I understand that a lot of people say you shoudn't redline it because the power curve lowers slightly....
does anyone know?
Cheers Ash

Absolutley no need going near the limiter with a standard engine, you'll be loosing power.

Short shift no, but taking it to the limiter is pointless.

it all depends on the chartictor of the engine, if is a turbo, then you will only rev to say 6krpm, but if you have a N/A on tb's then you well high higher, say 9000rpm

Read my post about a 1.2 in the other forum. I never said you gain hp by caning it, just accelerate faster. Although every power curve drops off.

And reving higher will gain horsepower when components are lightened/machined and new performance parts fitted ie heavy duty valve springs and lighter valves.
