An English county council has banned the congregation of cars, according to the BBC.

Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottinghamshire Police applied for the injunction from the county court. It prevents five or more vehicles from "congregating, driving in convoy, or racing" in the county.

The council said the move followed hundreds of complaints about the noise and anti-social behaviour of what it called ‘boy racers.’ It claims the injunction is aimed at the modified car movement.

Nottingham City Council obtained a similar injunction in 2006 which applied to the city.

The injunction carries a maximum two year jail sentence for anyone found breaching the order and will remain in place for two years before review.

How stupid is this! Now means parents meeting to take their kids to football at weekends and travelling on a convoy to away matches could get 2yrs in jail

I hope this includes things like Piston head meets and such?

Because all the corsa owners are the same people.........

AS usual, another example, rather than deal with the issue, brush it under the carpet and hope it goes away......... Hmmmmmm typical.

They have got nothing better to do than hit motorists even more so young drivers.

Its because things happen when they put stupid ideas forward and people notice it so think to themselves we complain and the council are doing something about it, lets vote for them again. "wankers"

It makes people happy to do things like this. What would be funny if they disperced all young drivers from the area and then crime rates increased, that would just piss people off.

it is already illegal to lead a convoy of more than 5 vehicles with approveal of the police/local authorites. all this means is instead of the leader of a convoy being prosecuteted, everyone they stop will be hit.

Won't stand up in court if you had half a brain and a good lawyer, absolute testicles.

Go to the court of human justice in Europe, they love things like this.

So, the council are going to stop convoys of more then 5 cars?

what about a saturday/sunday league team travelling to an away game?

How do they detimne a "boy Racer" - if you turn round and say no, infact im a "Cruiser" or a "modifier" does that not count?

its like saying 5 polish people are not alowed to sit in the same place - oh wait that would cause conflict!

The country needs to fucking grow up and make a point of being BRITISH! We celebrate paddys day and other but not the fucking st Goerge's!

I have lifted the following of the cruise notts site. Cruise notts were concerned because of the Sunday night MFN meets suddenly being deemed "illeagal".

The following clarifies the injunction. More info can be found on the Cruise Notts web site for those that are members and/or interested.

Quote..........."

I decided to call Inspector Sean Konsek’s office and get some clarification for my own piece of mind. I spoke with a Sargent Dean Greenals and explained I was no a representative and just wanted clarification or my understanding of the injunction.
The injunction in the headlines of the last few days has been taken out of context. Reports have said that "the injunction stops groups of five or more car congregating together" this is incomplete.

The injunction reads as follows:
‘five or more motor vehicles from congregating together, driving in convoy or racing each other on the highway who by their conduct make excessive noise, cause danger to road users or risk injury or risk damage to property’.

This means that if you are a group are car enthusiast meeting at a location and you where not "make excessive noise, cause danger to road users or risk injury or risk damage to property’. You would be meeting lawfully but it would be advisable to arrange this meeting off the public highway.

However if you do meet on a highway (this includes lay-bys and car parks) you could still be breaking other laws eg rights off access and clearways etc etc.

The injunction is more about combating the problem of antisocial behaviour in the forms of dangers driving, intimidation of other road users and risk of injury or damage, then stopping people that have an interest in cars meeting fellow enthusiasts.

An example of what the injunction is trying to stop is the following : A church goers giving a fellow parishioner a lift home on a Sunday evening having to change there route as they feel intimidated by the action of people using Junction 27 of the M1 and its surrounding area.

........End Quote"

Imho, all this will do is move the meets into neighbouring counties. Meeting points for convoys to shows will more than likely be from Leicester Forest and/or the first Yorkshire service station. Name escapes me for the mo

ps. This is Di not Jay. Forgot he was logged in on my PC
