Ok at the moment I have a universal induction kit on my corsa which I like because of the induction roar but I'm not sure it is best for performance.

Would it be better to replace it with the standard airbox and a panel filter? What are the cons over an induction kit?

No.

If you are going to spend money buyb a an enclosed ind kit such as BMC or K&N Apollo.

Or you could locte the ind kit inside the airbox and run a feed to it

well ive derestricted my air box, taken out the bottom section that sits above the arch on the front driver side and ran a cold air feed straight to that from a fog light hole from the gsi bumper. and ive stuck a k&n pannel filter. you get a great roar from it and im sure the performance increase isnt far off a decent kit like the BMC. thinking about it, it ticks all the boxes. none of that heat soak. gud cold air feed. fairly cheap. works well.
