Just getting all the parts together for my new 2.0 engine as the old one needs a helicoil and all I have to say about that is fuck that.
Just need to get the engine number then I can get a quote, but does anyone know if I am right in thinking that a set of std. spec 2.0 pistons for an XE with a 0.5mm oversize come in at around £100? I haven't been able to get any confirmed prices as I need an engine number to get a quote on them.
Who do you then take the block to for the re-bore and hone? Would any engineering places do it, or would it be a specialist block workshop who could do the work? Anyone recomend anywhere in the West Mids or round the Bucks area? Would I be right in thinking this would cost about £50 odd?
Also, how much for a head skim? I may aswell get it checked and skimmed if needed while the Coscast is off the block to keep it in good nick. Also, anyone know of anwhere which will do this work for me? Would the head need to be stripped apart with all the valves and stuff out because that job sucks

Yea, will get that done, but I know the head is in good condition so it should pass that.
Is there anything wrong with using oversized piston rings if the block has only been bored .5mm?
