Right to cut a long story short:
My grandad made accounts for me, my brother and my cousin when we were younger, which were believed to amount to hundreds maybe even into the thousands.
My grandad got ill and died and my uncle had power of attorney/dealt with all his finances. (around 7 years ago)
I don't really get on with my uncle as my parents split up when we were younger and never see him, however my dad still does so haven't really brought it up until now as my Uncle has f**ked my dad over big style.
Basically these accounts mysteriously disappeared when my uncle sorted all the finances and he just denies they even existed, but we used to get all the magazines and piggy banks etc so we knew the accounts existed.
We were all supposed to be getting the money when we were 18, me and my brother think that our cousin got her share but we didn't see anything and we want to find out what happened to it.

Is there anyway we can find out? We are sure the accounts were in our names and registered to my grandads address, surely we have a right to know where the money went?
Thanks for any help

If you know which bank/building society they were with, and the names and adresses etc, you should be able to find out no trouble.

Hi Tom, I work for a bank myself and we come up against these kind of queries all the time on the death of an account holder. As the executor of your grandads estate, your uncle would have had a duty to ensure that all monies were paid either in accordance with the will or to the surving party in a joint account. I would suggest writing to your banks Customer Relations department for information and they should be able to provide you with details of any accounts you may have held with them as a trustee. Failing that pay your uncle a visit because it sounds like hes pulled a fast one!! Hope that helps

Surely the bank won't be willing to do anything as its your uncles name on the accounts. So have you any way of proving its your account?
