My mates does exactly what yours does. As he starts it it comes on goes to full then goes back off lol

I would say it was an oil pressure or oil temp

oil level... only works for a few seconds after startup

oil level when you turn the ignition on, then when you start it means oil temp

well it does on the 106gtis anyway
