The V5 engine, comes in 150 and 170ps variants.

what are the differences, just software or any internals?

Won't be anything internal I'd imagine. Just usual differences. ECU software, MAF, TB/inlet and cams.

Please elaborate on why they are poor, gotta love CS, statements without evidence as usual

Test drove a bora V5 today, wasnt fast but wasnt expecting it to be but was very smooth, quiet and refined.

They use more petrol than the V6 and don't really offer any performance over the 1.8T with the same power.

be best to try for a v6 4motion mate or similar, think they are near 200bhp and very nice to drive.
v5's never seemed to catch on, dont know why, never driven one myself only drove the 4motion.

V6 4 motions out of my price range atm fella. The V5 Bora i looked at today was £3295 on a T reg, 86k, FSH.

went in a golf v5 today, it fealt very bland and boring! seemed to take forever to wind up, plus theyre very poor on fuel id much rather have a 1.8t and get it remapped!

Ive had 2 1.8T cars before, both remapped as well, just fancy something different. But tbh i was not impressed with the V5 Bora today, very smooth & refined though.

They are just not very good engines. They aren't a true V engine and they don't really offer any gain over the other engines in the range.

The V6 would have been smoother, and the 1.8t will probably be better on fuel.

narrow ange v5 its an vr6 with a cylinder cut off basicaly

Thanks for comments guys, have seen a few 1.8T boras but they are miles away and seem to be quite rare.

that they do, drove one in america what they call the Jetta 2005/2006 model was very nice to be honest, very refined but just something about it doesnt make me want to own one.

doesnt do anything particularly wrong just doesnt shine in anyway

Yes, and a VR6 isn't strictly a true V6 either.
