im after a deisel or something what are good for econemy
i was looking at 306 hdi 56 mpg
can anyone help??

yeah i can vouch for 306 d turbo, cant see one or a hdi doing 56mpg unless ur driving it at say 56mph

306 td are good cars mine has had the boost turnt right up along with the fuel and still get good mpg 
And they surprise alot of cars for what they are

I know someone who had a instructer car fabia 1.9 tdi (so mainly town driving etc) and it average 49.00 mpg

whats the price limit? if ur not bothered about the name, new kia rio 1.5cdti. i work for a mazda and kia dlealership and yeh its a basic car but they supposed to be getting 60mpg

My Punto averages between 60 and 70 mpg in town.

Though at 30mph you can get it to do about 95mpg

Are you doing many motorway miles? My Astra H 1.7 CDTi can return 550miles to a tank of derv (£46-£48 to fill up at present).
Would suggest something with a 6th gear if your croozin on motorway a lot. Most modern Vauxhall 1.9 CDTi's have 6sp box...

Yea, that's the one problem with the Punto. Theu discontinued the 6 speed box for some reason which means it's not a lot better than a newish petrol engine with the same power on the motorway

citroen c1 diesel or petrol offical lfigures are 61-67 but in a test in the sunday times they got 80 odd out of them

But James, if you overtake a lorry in a Lupo then you skid along on your roof for a bit, then when you pass another you get blown back onto your wheels if you are lucky. They are like driving a kite
