Just need to find an ignition live on a 106 - NOT BEHIND THE STEREO!!!

Anywhere else, to turn the amp on and off. The stereo has no rem wire, if you connect it to the car side ign. live, it puts the amp in protetion mode after uve started it. Other than that, put a resistor in the wire?

Help please!

Well you'll need a conductable point to stab the wires then turn the ignition on / off, if the bulb turns on / off you have an ignition live.

Interior light will be a permanent live as it comes on with the door open and the key in your hand.

Cig lighter really shouldn't be permanent, that can't be right, it definitely should be switched, so that you don't drain your battery leaving your phone charger in...

Her ciggy lighter is deff perm live. Interior light doesnt seem good either. Found out that wire coming off fuse 4 (only a radio fuse) is ignition live... is it safe to tap into that?

Yeh it does, ive got the rem wire coming off the ignition live back there now, but when you start the car (nbot with the nition on) it turns the amp into protection mode, im guessing that its tooo much current so that sends it into protection.

The map reading light has an ignition live - but she hasnt got one

Thinking about that could I put a resistor in line with the remote wire to stop this "surge" or current?

remote is 0.5a max-simply banging a 12v on will make amp run in safe.

u need remote wire only

O... thanks...

How do i "make" a remote wire tho? She really doesnt want to buy a new headunit. I mean, there must be a way to "cap" the amps and volts going down that wire with something from maplins?

i aint never wired an amp from standard H/U before, however the majority of amps do require 0.5a max-what is the tolerance of the amp for remote powering?

My amp worked in my Corsa, using a remote from the cig lighter. It was fine.

remote wires are usually 12V and usually take 0.5A max (it's the max draw the remote wire will take, so aslong as you have remote wire to handle the current it should be fine) so connecting it to an ignition live shouldn't be a problem.

I would try the amp in another car though and see if it goes into protection mode as it sounds like it could be a fault to be honest - it certainly shouldn't be going into protection mode.

Failing that you can get a number of triggers that will trigger when a signal is produced on high-level speaker connections or low-level phono/RCA etc - might be another route.
