Just got back from the garage with all hopes of being able to drive the corsa down to my house...but alas it is still there

Can't get the gearlinkage set up at all! I've followed the "How To" on here and used the Haynes manual but still can't get it right. Can just about get 1st, 2nd-5th seem ok, but can I fook get reverse. Tried to drive it up the drive, but failed as it was like I was trying to start in 3rd (which I could be tbh!).

Given up for today, but really am fed up! Hopefully got a mate coming round on Mon/Tue to help me sort it. Just got fears now of not being able to make it to PVS or breaking down on the way!

Are all engine conversions a ball ache (or atleast your first one)?! Need some inspiring words to keep spirits up. I just want to drive it!!!

Rugger thing?! What the gear linkage? Seems fine, just getting the fooking thing set up thats a bitch! Not much room without removing battery/coolant bottle either.

Ben G: Like that idea, should listen to it before playing COD3 tonight on the PSN

Its a standard linkage, so it should set up fine. Just me being a muppet!

Sorted now and I've driven it!

Took one of my mates 2 mins to set the linkage up properly and adjust the clutch cable.

Gave it a quick spin round the block to check everything and its nippy! Its not idling properly, so suspect a sensor may be to blame. And there is some knocking from somewhere (exhaust probably), so will do some tweaking this week and try and take it out for a few hours next weekend.

Thanks everyone, might even update my Project thread now with pics of the car somewhere other than the drive!
