going to look at a mk2 seat ibiza 1.8 gti on thurs and just wondered what people's opinions are of these cars?seem to be very understated, hoping its definatly an improvement over my 1.6 corsa!
0-60 8.6 secs,130bhp,golf engine,should be pretty gd i hope!

Not even a second quicker to 60mph. Don't expect a big improvment in speed.

hmm...am wondering whether its going to be worth it,only reason i'm considering really is because its such a gd deal,my cousins husband's selling it well cheap.
would be nicer round corners (i think),front and rear disc brakes plus i'm kinda getting bored of the corsa.just want it to be a worthwhile decision though.

Don't know which 'era' the Mk2's come from, but I'd imagine the build quality/comfort inside to be better!

yee definatley deano, the interior is basically the same as the polo (not sure which mk) but has the gti cupra seats and possibly red seat belts, came with certain models.
just been on seatcupranet and the 0-60 time is apperntly 7.8 which sounds much better !....(if its accurate)

Brilliant fun to drive. I had a pre-facelift 1.4 with a bosch mono-motronic fuel injection system. Not as fast as my 1.6 corsa but more enjoyable IMO

the 1.8 16v are fairly quick check the performance stats on the site
but the 2.0 8v is about on par with a 1.6 16v corsa
i wouldnt mind a 1.8 16v

They are good cars yeah, i wanted a 2.0 16v at one point. But there not fast. Put an inlet, s/s exhaust system and manifold, on a stipped out 1.6 and it's as fast, if not faster.
