spotted a 106 gti that looks quite decent.

only thing is its a 2000 reg, but its done 27,500 miles on the clocks.

it doesnt mention the mileage in the advert, i had to phone the guy to find out the mileage.

it doesnt add up really. im going to see the car on saturday, just got my suspicions that its a 7 year old car, with only 27k on the clock?
plus i thought having 27k on the clock would be a selling point so surely you would want to include this in an advert for it?

opinions?

My 1999 plate Corsa had 21409 miles on it when it was sold (last year).

Seems reasonable to me as long as the service history is there...

My mums X reg Fiesta Zetec s has only got 23,000 miles. So i'd say it would be genuine. Some people like my mum only use there cars to go to the shops etc, s they dont rack up the miles.

Old MOT certs would be best, the leather in 106's is shit so that probably isn't the best way!

TBH £4200 sounds a good price, is it standard?

Also, short journeys = a lot of inning and outing = more wear.

Get the service history and MOT's. Not down the chassis number etc, and get a HPI check done online

very valid point my dad gets a new company car ecvery two years, he does 40,000 miles a year but its all motorway so only uses sixth gear 95% OF THE time which means the box everything will be in as good consition as another town car which has done 30,000

Good point, may have been one of the reasons why my gearbox and clutch went at 45k!

My corsa that i bought last august or so only had 32000 on it and it was a 99. The girl that sold me it didnt use it much - didnt take it to uni etc. Ask the owner why the miles are so low and you can find out if its been sitting for a while, or its just done wee journeys

My mum hardly uses her car, just on 15k miles in 4.5 years! As people say, not everyone uses their can unnessasarily(sp)

My dads bike is 3 years old and done about 2000 miles!

It be a litte dubious and check he has MOTs, Service History to back up the milage.

If theres no service id check for signs of wear on the pedals \ seats \ gearknob \steeringwheel etc etc all tell tale signs of useage.
