i've tried 4 brands, the 4th one i'm using at the moment is the best i've had and it tastes amazing.
Reflex Instant Whey - Choc Mint flavour. Got the 2.4kg tub from GNC (£34 with my gold card) and it lasts ages, tastes amazing to, i actually look forward to drinking it.
Had a weigh in today, lost another 2kg of fat which i'm happy with! My last weigh in was like 6 weeks ago though.
If your just starting/getting back into it just focus on compound exercises like bench press, deadlift, squats, dips etc that'll get you back into it in a month!
I still aint seen a pic of CraigW though, i'm intrigued to see one!

Progain is meal replacement, i bought 3 tubs and got a free one from maximuscle.com, although most sites do this offer now. I packed on some lean muscle, but not as much as when i used USN 100% instant whey protein (36g protein per serving) combined with USN creatine Ethyl Ester.
Now i just use pure whey protein anything above 35g of protein per serving is good, i use 1/2 of recommended useage 20-30 mins prior to training, and then the recommended amount after training asap.
Cycle the creatine something like 4 wks on an 4 wks off, although most top bodybuilders do stay on it all yr round. I only use CEE caps though, none of this powder rubbish, and definitely not monohydrate, that does give you the parps!!

Eat pasta and rice after 6/7 at night, that will help you gain weight.

Any carbs you eat at that time of night or later, will more than likely not be burnt off and will be converted to fats and stored in the adipose tissue in your body. Basically you should get fat, which is the wrong way to gain weight.

If you want to put weight on, and you have a really active lifestyle you basically need to be in a positive calorie balance, i.e be eating more calories than your burning off. If your a member of a gym they can point you in the right directions.
Basically find out your bodyweight in pounds and consume this in grams of protein per day, double that for the amount of grams of carbs you take in per day, and dont consume more than 70g of fats per day. Do this over 6-8 meals throughout the day and you should see gains. If you want to use meal replacement shakes too they should help. The only issue is you should also be doing some form of resistance work, i.e. weights, just playing football wont do it. Hope this helps

Myprotein is a really good site for this sort of stuff. Doubt you'll see much gains in a week but it will definately help. As said cottage cheese is good as an evening snack and has about 30g of protein per pot.
