They are a hoot to drive, my mates was tuned by hillpower or something, was meant to be 160bhp, feels top heavy though.

Engine out for most things really... however i am the master having had 3 gearboxes

anyway back on topic....

they are lovely cars and if you are one for keeping the car maintained to it's peak condition then it'll cost you a small fortune.

Over 5 years of ownership i think i piled around £5k in maintenance and wear & tear not including insurance and tax.

I beleive you'd be better off going for the newer renault sport as the old 1.8''s will show their age and usual places for rust are rear arches and the boot, under the carbon strip. Excess movement in the gear leaver means warn engine mounts (sign of a sprited owner!) and these things need regular oil changes....
Oh and not forgetting the weak gearbox!

Handle like a go kart and for it's age goes like stink.....

I was really into mine and would still have it if it was not for the stupid bint that pullled out on me..

my mate had one, they rust and fall apart and be prepared for a lot of money being spent to fix things that go wrong, think his was off the road more than on.

No, cambelt can be done with the engine in, pretty tight, but it's entirely possible. Done many of these. Engine's good, but car's are poorly built otherwise. Those Clios were one of the worst.
