hi all can someone please tell me
if the cat is glowing on a corsa and i mean bright red,will this cause the engine to make a flapping sound????
engines all running sweet apart from this little bit now so think i just need to replace the cat and it will be fine

Sounds like its running lean, and causing exhaust temps to rise.

yeah cat is glowing and its spitting little minute bits of metal out the backbox ?
does this mean the internal of the cat has turned inside the pipe to block it????

Aye, usually means the cat is fucked, it ill be all chewed up inside. Cut the cat open and take it all out, then get a cat for the MOT

Yeah, cat has disintegrated and probably blocked the exhaust, mine did that on the M5 at 70mph, then it gave way and shot out of the back in a big cloud of shit

Possibly, if the bits inside are waggling about.
Increased pressure in the cat would mean it heats up and glows.

my cat went on my last car, all you could see when you pulled up was heat haze billow from underneath.... but my crank seal was on its way out too so oil was leaking and ending up on the cat aswell burning off
