Just behind my front grille in my SRi theres a panel which wasn't there on my old sport i believe 
how do you remove this easily as don't want to break anything!

What was the Sport?. I have a panel their too, i guess its to stop objects from going through the grille as its got 2 big gaps compared to post97 grilles wich has list of small gaps.
Dont know how right i am on this but i would leave it their, or cut the old grille off and put a badgless grille on there. Its not as simple as just cutting the old one off and clipping a new one in place though, your best searching on here and getting a little info first

Cheers mate, I had a 97 Sport but the same as yours but it had the normal grille but no panel behind it.

Mines hanging off one one side so it may well have been taken off on yours. i was going to take mine off to let more air into the standard air feed. i might just cut into one half instead just incase anything wrong happens, which knowing me will happen
