Right, i graduated from uni last yr, and im finding it dificult to find jobs that i want, due to not having experience.
i spoke to the careers advisor at uni today, and she said thats usualy a problem and suggests i go through a recruitment agency to find temp work and gain experience...

im wondering how do these work and if any of you had experience, what should i be looking out for as i dont wanna be scammed with up front payments etc....how do they pay you etc..thanks

the recruitment agency makes their money from the fee which is paid by the client for you.

regarding the payment, you may have to fill out time sheets.

glol.

You think they do placements for nothing?

In my experience the agency charge the clients top dollar and pay the worker as little as possible.

yer, but i thought that the agency is paid by the employer for finding a suitable candidate, but the successful candidate would be paid the full amount as if it werent thru an agency.

Laney which recruitment agency do you recommend in the hull area?

no, the agency will pay your wages as your on thier books.

for example a company will pay £19an hour for a HGV class one driver to the agency. but the driver will be getting payed around 10-12 quid an hour by the agency

thats quite a cut, i thought it was just an inital fee that the company paid to the agency..what happens if the company decide to take you on full time, do you just tell the agency you have a job, thanks for the help, stop taking the wages i deserve lol, i have seen some adverts and they say they pay £5 an hr, surely thats lower than min wage

If the company take you on they have to pay a fee to the agency

It depends what kind of work you want? There are loads of general office agencies and then more specific ones. Just look in the phonebook
