Sounds exactly like my migranes i get, soon as i get the "lights" and blindspots (close your eyes and you can sort of see flashing lights in the corners of your eyes similar to a lava lamp)
I take 2 nurofen, and go straight to bed before the headache kicks in. sleep right through it cos it usually makes me feel sick.
marathon sleep later and i feel fine. i get them mostly when i get stressed.

I get the same thing, if you watch TV and just focus on that everything around the TV gets darker and darker, till finally you look away and can't see anything, walk around, look out the window, give your eyes more light and it goes back to normal, I've found any way.

its DEFFO migraine mate, i get them, not too often but exactly like that.
Once you start getting them they crop up now and again, docs say there is a 'trigger' for them usually but i be damned if i can find one.
Anyways there crap, massive headache and sickness every time, i have some meds for them but doesnt help much.
Bad luck mate if you start getting them :-(

I get that exact thing too Paul. Usually when I've been working for a long time, starts off like eyestrain, can't see/focus just as you describe, then have a debilitating headache soon afterwards. Not pleasant.

interesting... didn't realise it was so common.
First time I've ever had this, I always thought 'migranes' were what people who had head aches a lot, called them to make them sound worse than they are lol!
To the people who haven't had it... IT's not a blur, or a dark ness, it's just a void where there should be an image, like if the light skipped their face.
i.e.

or

Strangely however, although I had a head ache after (or pain like behind my eye) - It wasn't that bad.

I used to get migraines really badly, loss of vision, paralysed down one side, sickness etc and the only thing that helped was nurofen liquid capsules and sleeping with the hope of waking up and it all be over
